Many local authorities in Tanzania have reformed their tax collection systems in recent years in order to increase their revenue. Brief 10 from REPOA examines recent experiences with privatised revenue collection in seven urban and rural councils in Tanzania, with particular focus on outsourcing of revenue collection to private agents.

REPOA's Brief 11 examines the extent of local corruption perceived by residents from six councils in Tanzania. Respondents’ opinions are given on: trends in corruption; who they perceive as involved; their awareness of measures to address corruption, and their ideas on how to address corruption.
